Watershed Institute
The Watershed Institute provides for systematic outreach and professional development for watershed coordinators and others in search of affordable trainings that are relevant to protecting our state's waters.
Begin the Watershed Institute by opening the Skills Self-Assessment Tool. This online survey will help you identify learning opportunities tailored to your personally-identified professional development needs based on your responses. You will automatically receive a list of on-line courses and resources; although we do our best to keep up with the constant changes in available trainings, you may encounter a broken link. The skill areas currently assessed include:
- Project Planning
- Volunteer Recruitment and Retention
- Conflict Management
- Fundraising
- Watershed Sciences
- Technical Writing
- Data Analysis
- Marketing and Promotion
- Outreach
After completing the suggested courses for a particular skill area, you are eligible for a Watershed Institute certificate of completion for that skill area. Email a screenshot of the final screen of each training or write a sentence or two explaining what you learned from each training to Whitney Lonsdale at whitney.lonsdale@montana.edu along with your mailing address.
